Hike between Ilulissat and Oqaatsut

Feel Greenland beneath your feet. Take a hike from Ilulissat to Oqaatsut settlement - or vice versa. There is a clearly marked and easy 21 km route, which takes four hours for experienced walkers or seven to eight hours for those who want to see, hear and sense this magnificent landscape at a leisurely pace.

If you’re hiking from Ilulissat we recommend that you rest your tired legs at Hotel Nordlys, where you can spend the night and set out on any one of a number of tours the following day.

On this hiking trail you will come across 60 or so cabins dotting the landscape. The cabins are owned and periodically occupied by locals, who are always happy to chat and answer questions when you pass by.

If you want to learn how to do rock- and ice-climbing with our climbing-guide in the landscapes around Oqaatsut, read more HERE

Bring a packed lunch in your backpack.
It’s good to remember that you must always keep the ocean on the left hand side if you set out from Ilulissat, and the reverse (i.e. on your right hand side) on the return leg.
